Hi there, I recently picked up a 9748 DDK. I think it is a pretty fun set,
for the limited amount of things that it does. I was wondering if someone
who knows more about the Mindstorms stuff can answer a few questions for me.
What are the expansion sets for? Do they work with 9748? Or is 9748 a
'stand alone' type set? What is RCX and what does it do? Thanks.

| (...) The expansion sets are meant to work with the Robotics Invention System (RIS), and to a (much) lesser extent the Robotics Discovery System (RDS).
