Re: Building a computer from Lego's

Well I guess we are using the term "computer" a little loosely. But if it could play tic-tac-toe then it made decisions based variable input, thats kind of like a computer. And using an RCX would definitely NOT count. Bob (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.general)

  Re: CM-RCX comm

Status Report: 1) Ok, just got my RIS 1.0 set (AT LAST! ;) 2) My first tests with the two pBricks (CyberMaster and RCX) prove that it's possible to communicate using a (ten times) slower version of VLL protocol (I call it SlowVLL for short). *It (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Does anyone remember ... ?

I am trying to find the web page that describes the serial protocol for the IR tower - RCX communications. Preamble code, message codes checksum etc etc. 2400, n, 8 1 etc. Does anyone happen to recall where it is? Thanks JB (25 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Building a computer from Lego's

This guy built a computer out of Tinkertoys! So I was wondering, has anyone ever built a computer out of legos? Heck, has anyone ever built a working cash register. Certainly can be done. (URL) (25 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.general)

Not that I know of - but I think it would be hard to make something as convenient as the RCX from the point of view of nice packaging, connectors that fit the weird Lego electrical connectors (those are pretty clever - take the time to figure (...) I don't doubt that in the least! I took my RCX brick into VB class the other day and showed it and the manual for programming through spirit.ocx to my teacher. Now he knows what he's asking for on his birthday he said :) Along with 3 other people in (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.robotics)
