Alexandre, My guess would be that the the Motor killed the RCX, It seems to be that the newer Technic motors (i.e. Mindstorms motors) often exibit this failure mode. I have had three go this way, and I have heard reports of other people who have had (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

The outputs on the RCX can sink about 500mA of current, and each motor draws up to 200mA when stalled. You can put two on the output and stall them before the thermal shutoff kicks in. I was under the impression (never tried it, mind you) that the (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I find it really frustrating that this has to be "discovered" over and over. I believe my fix for LegOS (a year ago?) fixes this problem. The sensor itself is very good. It only ever returns the discrete voltages (which vary by cable length (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Thanks to all for the good information that has been related here. Most of my applications were low rpm which seems to be a definite fault area. I like to use them for absolute programming of positions. I now see the problem in using them in these (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)
