As I've seen some people having problems with the IR tower, I suggest using
an AC adapter. I had battery problems from the very first time I used the
black tower, whilst the batteries where in good shape. I had to open up the
case each time I wanted to use the tower, because in this way I could reach
the power contact points on the board and feed it from another power source.
After a while, I got tired of this, so I grabbed my drill, and put a hole in
the side of the FRONT part (you can see through it a bit) of the tower. I
put in a small female adapter plug and connected it to the battery contacts
using two wires laid around the inside corner of that very same front part.
Now I power the IR tower with an AC adapter (9V, 1000mA), and I don't use
the battery compartment anymore. This way, my tower won't fall out because
the batteries are empty.
Keep on customising...
Simon

| Of course you made sure that the battery in your IR tower is in good shape. I haven't found a way other than trying a brand new battery to verify that. The green light in the tower is not an indicator for a good battery - it lights up just fine even (...) (25 years ago, 12-Apr-00, to lugnet.robotics)
