Eaton's is having a sale in Canada this weekend. 25% off things that fit in
a bag, and 10% of things that don't (appliances, lawn mowers, ect.).
Eaton's carries Mindstorms, but you should phone to check a particular
store, and check that a Mindstorms box is "designated" to fit in a bag. I
am sure they are, but... don't waste the gas to find out.
Americans close to the border might be interested since you dollar kicks on
ours.
25% off of 300$CAD = 225$CAN = 146.484$US
Don't forget any taxes you might have to pay in the states (I'm completely
unaware if that situation exists) and there is 7% GST, and varying
provincial sales taxes (0 to 7%). Some of these taxes you can get refunded
since you are not a resident. Your best bet would be to phone a Canadian
Eaton's, say you are an American, and ask them all the questions above, and
then you could see if it was worth the hassle and gas! I think you would
have to live pretty close to make it worth while.
If you bought it in BC, paid 14% tax (which I am sure you don't as a non
resident) it would come out to 166.667$US (156.738$US after you get the GST
rebated) I think that Alberta has no provincial sales tax, and in that case
it would be the 146.48$US.
NOTE: Do ***not*** post any tax information or tax corrections to this
group! Assume my quotes are *wrong*, and phone a store and ask! This post
is skirting the line of on-topic as it is, but I think a good price on
Mindstorms warrants it.
