Re: Making Lego airborne —Marco C.
   (...) If you ever make it work, please, post here the how-to !!! :) ...LEGO's *heavy* so, maybe a custom-made loooong, *light*, *strong*, large(?) heli-blades ? hmmm... carbon-fiber alike material ?! ...I doubt that 1 (2?, 3?) LEGO motor(s) is/are (...) (24 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Making Lego airborne —Matthew Teets
(...) I think your best bet might be to supplement the lift by possibly making a dirigible. I agree with the statement that Lego's are heavy and motors are weak, so this would seem to be the best suggestion. You could still have it RCX controlled, (...)        (...) that (...) Last year, I visited group which operate a old R100 airship hanger as a full scale building test facility. Basically, they construct buildings inside the hanger... close the doors... then burn 'em. See the hanger here: (URL) (...) (24 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Making Lego airborne —Jason S. Mantor
(...) that (...) Nope ! Close though : ) Dirigibles are airships with rigid frames. Zeppelins are dirigibles but Blimps are not rigid and are merely ballons with gondolas hanging off them (24 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Making Lego airborne —Jürgen Stuber
(...) It seems we might get a few more examples in the near future. In Germany there are several groups constructing new airships, using better material avaliable today. The most impressive one is the CargoLifter, which is intended to carry heavy (...) (24 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Making Lego airborne —Barbara Nostrand
Hi. (...) A blimp is a cigar shaped lighter than air vehicle with a non-rigid (all rigidity is produced by air pressure alone) air sack. A dirigible has a rigid envelope. The Hindenberg had a rigid structure of girders inside of the envelope which (...) (24 years ago, 28-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)
