  Re: Making Lego airborne

(...) If you ever make it work, please, post here the how-to !!! :) ...LEGO's *heavy* so, maybe a custom-made loooong, *light*, *strong*, large(?) heli-blades ? hmmm... carbon-fiber alike material ?! ...I doubt that 1 (2?, 3?) LEGO motor(s) is/are (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Making Lego airborne

(...) I think your best bet might be to supplement the lift by possibly making a dirigible. I agree with the statement that Lego's are heavy and motors are weak, so this would seem to be the best suggestion. You could still have it RCX controlled, (...) (...) here's a link to a zepplin reference page I found while searching the web for the R100 airship (URL) thought you might find it interesting John (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) that (...) Nope ! Close though : ) Dirigibles are airships with rigid frames. Zeppelins are dirigibles but Blimps are not rigid and are merely ballons with gondolas hanging off them (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Making Lego airborne

(...) It seems we might get a few more examples in the near future. In Germany there are several groups constructing new airships, using better material avaliable today. The most impressive one is the CargoLifter, which is intended to carry heavy (...) (25 years ago, 25-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Making Lego airborne

Hi. (...) A blimp is a cigar shaped lighter than air vehicle with a non-rigid (all rigidity is produced by air pressure alone) air sack. A dirigible has a rigid envelope. The Hindenberg had a rigid structure of girders inside of the envelope which (...) (25 years ago, 28-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)
