I've made some decent ones using spring-loaded shock absorbers, connected to
a sort of bulldozer-blade. This works really well, but doesn't fill all of
your qualifications -- it doesn't give 360 degree coverage (pretty much
front only, although when made well does a good job even when colliding at
steep angles), and it requires some technic pieces (the shock absorbers, as
an obvious example) not in the RIS kit.

Anyone got a really good design for a bump sensor... Gives all round coverage Uses minimum number of sensors Can absorb sufficient movement so the actual bots position is not disturbed Built using standard RIS lego Actually if anyone has any good (...) (26 years ago, 3-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)
