Well, you got 75%. :-)
NPT is National Pipe Taper, and
NPS is National Pipe Straight.
The latter is used on electical conduit, the former is a self sealing
thread used on pressure fittings.
For more information on thread forms - there are hundreds - check any
edition of Machinery Handbook. It's the Bible of the machinist, so much
so that toolboxes have a special drawer in the top middle just to fit
this book in.
