| | Rechargeable NXT battery DOA?

I ordered the rechargeable battery earlier this week and it arrived yesterday. It appears to be DOA as it does nothing when plugged in amd reads 0v with a multimeter. I am using a 9v regulator from a 9v train set which I have been told will work (...) (15 years ago, 27-Mar-10, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Hi Jürgen, (...) Yes, that should work, placing it in the converter. Current in the receiver used as a sensor is very low, so the voltage drop in the Schottky would be low too. Maybe it would need some trimming of resistors values. Philo (15 years ago, 8-Mar-10, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

W.r.t. the warning against using an NXT to PF converter: You could try adding a Schottky diode in the power supply line to protect the 4.3V supply of the NXT against somebody connecting 9V. Those speed cubes are taken apart, all the excess moulding sprue and rough edges filed off, lubricated, put back together, and the screws that hold them together in the centre squares adjusted so they hold together with just (...) The world record for a human-solved random Rubik's cube is a little over 7 seconds. This robot can do it in about 8 seconds, minus the inspection time which is also not counted in human contests.
