Developing a "button pressing" RCX system

Hello, I have inherited a hand-me-down RIS kit with a functional RCX unit that I would like to learn to use and put to a purpose. I would like to build a system whereas the RCX is setup to press buttons on controllers (think remote control units) to (...) (15 years ago, 29-Jan-10, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: How is this?

(...) I can see how this can happen and it depends on the sequence of events. This sequence will cause this behavior: touched AND distance < 9 - Motor turns on touched AND distance > 9 - Motor running, waiting for distance < 9 untouched AND distance (...)   How is this?

One of my students built the chainsaw model from nxtprograms.com. He wanted to make the blade turn only when it was at a distance less than 9 inches from the table. So he attached an ultrasonic and made one mod to the program. The program in NXT-G (...) (15 years ago, 23-Jan-10, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Question about gearing Power Functions-based trains

I've noticed that because the Emerald Night's two sets of driver wheels are locked together, the engine struggles to go around corners: the outer wheels have further to turn, so the wheels slip and the engine's movement becomes jerky. Would it be (...) (15 years ago, 19-Jan-10, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

PC - NXT communication with C language

Hi everybody: I would like to communicate a NXT with a PC through Bluetooth. The NXT program would be NXC, so there is no problem there since NXC provides a set of functions for BT communication. However, I need the PC program to be written in C. Is (...) (15 years ago, 19-Jan-10, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

DualGrip - NXT Rover (DG) - my latest creation

Hey folks, It's been a while since I last made a bot. My latest is DualGrip - NXTRover (or DG for short). I wont go into great detail as all info (with videos) can be found at my site (URL) but DG has both tracks and wheels and uses an acceleration (...) (15 years ago, 15-Jan-10, to lugnet.robotics)

LDraw Parts of HiTechnic Sensors and Multiplexers now available

  Re: 12/29/09 Portland Snowstorm

(...) Thanks for sharing this. A number of Technic contraptions have shown up during the past few weeks that somehow involved travelling over snow. Did you take any pictures of the things your group built? Jetro (15 years ago, 31-Dec-09, to lugnet.robotics)

  Motorized sausage

OK, here comes another one! (2 URLs) This has a new (?) method of locomotion - it rolls along just by changing its shape. The wheels are fixed to the body and do not rotate.   Re: A fast NXT 2.0 ball sorter

(...) Thanks ! (...) I initially thought I would have to do that, but actually in this design the speed limitation comes from the ball splitter mechanism (in the NXC version it runs full speed without stopping). I have not tried with alkaline (...) (15 years ago, 28-Dec-09, to lugnet.robotics)
