  MOC: Technic-scale tower crane

Although it was completed a while ago, recent posts [1] have prodded me into making an official announcement. Check out this seven-foot-tall tower crane: (URL) aim was to create a functional model that would fit in with the style of classic Technic (...)   Re: Detecting tilt with an Accelerometer.

(...) Yes, this would be a simpler solution. Using the difference and the sum of the two accelerometers as two inputs would likely make the driver logic very neat and clean. In addition, it could be useful to have two (much more sensitive) (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Anyone for Chess?

(...) Fantastic - Thanks for the link! Do you own one? The Phantom robot really moves quickly doensn't it - I suppose that's the advantage of dedicated engineering over Lego. After a quick web search (and lots of Andrew Lloyd Webber references) I (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Detecting tilt with an Accelerometer.

(...) Alex, I think that you would only require two accelerometers, one positioned low near the wheels, the other near the top. Both should be oriented to measure accelerations along the direction of travel. Using two accelerometers gives you a (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: new icon in RCX LCD readout

Mike, Rob Limbaugh emailed me with this suggestion and I thought it was likely as I was fiddling around with the datalog button in BricxCC right before I changed the batteries. I am not a Robolab user but in fact use NQC. I have just used the (...) (23 years ago, 21-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: new icon in RCX LCD readout

(...) I have no idea how that would come to be blinking, but normally it's the datalog icon. It means something is in the datalog, usually (I say that because I don't know why it would blink after a battery swipe). I don't know how you would erase (...)   new icon in RCX LCD readout

Yesterday I took the batteries out of my RCX to replace them with some rechargeables. After doing this I noticed a new icon on the LCD readout. On the right hand side, about midway down there is now is a pie shaped one quarter of a circle (two (...) (23 years ago, 21-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  serial tower

I recently bought a second RIS 2.0 and was wondering if anyone had a serial tower that they would be willing to trade for a usb tower. If anyone is interested please contact me. rcx2man@hotmail.com Thank You Scott (23 years ago, 21-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Detecting tilt with an Accelerometer.

(...) No acceleration along the sensed axis, yes. (...) At this point, we need to know the type of sensor you're using (is it a pendulum type sensor, or a linear compression sensor, or gyroscopic precession sensor, or something even stranger?), and (...)   RE: Detecting tilt with an Accelerometer.

(...) Steve, The accelerometer is actually a micromachined beam. Think of a miniature version of your arm holding a 5 lb brick. Your measurement axis is rotation about the shoulder joint. Whether or not you or the brick are moving, the brick is (...) (23 years ago, 21-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)
