RE: Even better, RIS 1.5, $99.99

So, the RCX 2.0 is virtually the same as 1.0, right? And I am assuming that the USB tower does work with the 1.0, right? Thanks for your help! -----Original Message----- From: Ralph Hempel [mailto:rhempel@bmts.com] Sent: Friday, June 07, 2002 9:30 (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Even better, RIS 1.5, $99.99

(...) This is a good deal for a RIS 1.5 system. You can always buy a USB tower if you need one, but for anyone thinking about using alternative firmware on a non-windows machine, the 1.5 with the serial tower is easier to deal with. I think they are (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Even better, RIS 1.5, $99.99

(...) I am certainly no expert on the RCX, but here is some conjecture based upon some pieces of "evidence." First, the RCX pictured on the LEGO Shop@Home web site is the 1.0 version. Second, the LEGO Outlet (at least the one in Georgia) is selling (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: CPR for RCX?

(...) Me too, except that Forth gives you ample opportunity to hang the machine with infinite loops and errant pointers causing writes into the program space. On the bright side, I have been working on a trap handler for pushbuttons that will give (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

Even more important: Why is Lego marking down the RCX 50%? Are they discontinuing this? What is the story? I can't believe that Spy-botics is replacing this: It doesn't have the "juice." Thoughts? -----Original Message----- From: Ed Manlove (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I found what I was looking for under support. Try (URL) for any one else wandering about that 9 volt battery it does appear to be for the serial tower. Ed (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Even better, RIS 1.5, $99.99

What is the difference between RIS 2.0 and RIS 1.5? I see at lego.com the RIS1.5 also requires a 9 volt battery. What is this for? the serial tower? a remote control? I know I can find all the details of the RIS 2.0 at (URL) but how about the RIS (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Can the RCX 1.0 be upgrade to the latest RIS2.0 firmware?

(...) Yes. (...) They are identical for all programming purposes (but early RCX 1.0 have a power plug). Jürgen "who even checked that the ROM contents is identical" (23 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
