(...) My first guess on this problem is that the firmware is no longer loaded on the RCX. Check the LCD display - if it doesn't show 5 digits (e.g. "00.00 1") then the firmware isn't installed. If you can locate the firmware file (typically called (...) (23 years ago, 20-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

I've posted a patch at sourceforge which allows you to modify the RCX's LNP id using the util/dll program. This should make life easier for those of us using multiple RCXs and LNP. (...) Well, I'm having a similar problem, but in my case, NQC and bricxcc just don't even ever see the brick. I have firmware installed, and the Lego RIS 2.0 software works and communicates perfectly with the brick (little green light on the USB (...) (23 years ago, 20-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) The main problem comes from the heat generated. This isn't a problem, unless you're driving motors fairly constantly with your RCX, but can eventually cause the diodes to break down. Around a year ago I suppose I asked about curved feet - building a robot with human-like walking characteristics. I have just bought (second hand) a bunch of Lego Dacta things (9701, 9702) with the computer interface 70909. Of course the serial cable supplied was of the wrong type - Cybermaster Female-Female, this interface needs Male-Female. Does anyone know (...) (23 years ago, 18-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Anyway, that could only say that the remote control knows that it has to send a OFF (brake) cmd to the RCX when fwd and rev are pressed together, (...) (...) I'd be a little surprised at a bridge rectifier which couldn't accept DC. Many electronic appliances have them these days so that it doesn't really matter what kind of wall wart you use, so long as the voltage is in the right range. The wall (...) I think you misuderstood what Larry said (or I misunderstood what you said). I think Larry was saying that you should use the wall wart from the train speed regulator, which is what Lego recommends. Those who can use a soldering iron, and know their anode from their cathode, could build something like what I did: (URL) black box is a 7809 9v positive voltage regulator. See the data sheet here: (URL) used a 12v wall wart to power the whole (...) (23 years ago, 18-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)
