  Re: Mario's new book...

Yup, I just bought it at B&N too, really nice! I love the discussion of grabbing mechanisms, and the skier is way too cool, I can't wait until we get snow! I am however not *quite* impatient enough to defrost our freezer... :o) Elijah (24 years ago, 22-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Source for a few IS1U60 sensors

Robert, A company in Canada sells them at a reasonable price, HVW Technologies. My order got held up at the boarder for about a week, but they said that was a rare occasion and not the norm. Here is their web address (URL) They cost $3.25 each plus (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Hi All, I want to use the "Send message" function of the RCX 2.0 and the = Light Sensor to make an IR proximity sensor, say if the robot gets within = 6 inches of an object it would back up and spin 180 and carry on. I wan = to use the programming (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Noisy sound sensor ;-?

Hi I have built the sound sensor in the Extreme Mindstorms book, and the basic operation appears to work fine. However when I have tried to use it in a full program which starts motors at the start of the program, the input is behaving as if it has (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  How to make shared memory....not

(...) You ask for it, you get it. BUT: It works, sort of. It will not survive any multitasking problems. Shared memory has to be handled by the OS, not by a user program. I split your problem to 3 programs. Program 1 allocates the memory and prints (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: RIS2 Upgrade on W95 & Pentium(I)

(...) Well, I have a fully functional RIS 1.5 including the serial tower. I got the RIS2 "Upgrade" disk from S@H. It's installer checks for OS and bails when it finds W95. And, of course, the .cab files are password protected, so, none of this (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

Re: Using the Home-made One-way valve

(...) Great ideas there! The Window Walker is a really nice practical application of the one-way split-valve. So that's how the old pre-1989 pneumatic systems operated...:-) -Gaurav Thakur, raving madman cp5670@home.com (URL) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics)

I need to borrow a USB Tower.

I don't post to these groups very often, being mostly a lurker, but I am attempting to make a contribution to the world of lego robotics.   Re: Storing Data

(...) It was suggested by some of my 'c++' co-workers that this was the case (shared memory was available). However, I don't deal with that in my Visual Basic world.
