Which airport is best?... an RTL Repost

I just got a note from someone who remembered the comparision I did on RTL between the three airports, and I decided to repost it here in .reviews where it might be easier to find. Here's a Dejanews reference if you want to see the thread in (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.reviews)

That link seems to be wrong. It seems that pasting in DejaNews URLs doesn't work any more?? Anyway, you can find it yourself by doing a dejanews powersearch on group rec.toys.lego with keywords century skyway and author Larry Pieniazek.. Maybe this (...) You forget that CS has a second chopper. It's of the boring, ho-hum, clone of a 1000 other TLG copters variety, so I'm not sure if it's an asset to CS, or a detriment. ;) Also, (just looking at the browser pictures--I don't have any of these sets) (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.reviews)

(...) Really! While I agree they have potential, I would have to say that the BEST minifig scale copter would have to be the light and sound air sea rescue copter, it looks a lot like the US coast guard ones. THAT's a big chopper. <rummage rummage> (...) (26 years ago, 16-Mar-99, to lugnet.reviews)

(...) You're right that the 6482 is big and looks a lot like the US coast guard ones, but it's still missing something to be the best (imho). (...) What about the Whirlwind Rescue (8856)? It could be fun to see a Model Team "decorated" version of (...) (26 years ago, 16-Mar-99, to lugnet.reviews)

Thanks for these chopper reviews. I had wanted to see a transport copter (kind with double rotors on top). I had no idea that there were already some made. Wish they'd sell some again w/o the light and sound expense. DJ Zorn To locate scans of (...) (26 years ago, 22-Mar-99, to lugnet.reviews)

(...) It's not minifig-scale, but I've always had a soft spot in my builder's heart for the 480 Rescue Helicopter from 1975: (URL) love the (unique?) curved windshield piece. But 6482 and 5542 are both excellent, too. -Tim (26 years ago, 6-Apr-99, to lugnet.reviews)

(...) Me too too :) This set has fond sentimental value for me - my grandmother brought it to me as a present on one of her trips to the US from Germany. -- Thomas Main main@appstate.edu (...) (26 years ago, 6-Apr-99, to lugnet.reviews)

(...) Speaking of sentiment, I had the most amazing Customer Service experience relating to this set. Sometime in '97, I went thru most of my old sets, looking for parts that needed replacing; one was the apparently-rare 2x3 black plate with rotor (...) (26 years ago, 16-Apr-99, to lugnet.reviews)
