We have Surfer and Shredd. I was disappointed that the
wheels are fixed, since I wanted to make and all-blue racer.

My kids found the "slammer" action to be frustrating.  It
was too hard to actually launch two cars and hit each other.
The driver would often fall off the cars before they got halfway
across the floor.

I thought maybe that the overabundance of "slammer" action by
lego lately was due to that being the only thing that hadn't
been patented yet (matchbox probably has the spring-launchers
protected as much as possible), but I ran across a K-nex set
with "slamming" action the other day.

All three of my kids expected a car about three times the size,
after seeing comercials, magazine adverts and the box size.
I'm expecting to read about a class action suit any day now...
really, I was quite embarased at buying something smaller than
a Matchbox car in a 100+ cubic inch package, and I knew how big
a six-stud-long car was to begin with.

The car chassis I found to be very nice, if a minifig could sit
on it.  Surely they could have found some way to do that!

The gargoyles found a quick home in our Islander forest
as statues.  The motors are in my space set as a control
panel.  The slopy parts, well, they look kind of neat, maybe
something will come of them.  The cars, alas, are in the box
with Ritvik and Ramagon things.

The cars come with a stat sheet, showing ratings for the speed,
control, and accel of the cars.  These obviously will match the
forthcoming video game, but are kind of useless.  Maybe I'll find
this to be an excuse to teach the kids Car Wars.  Hmmm I wonder
if I could mount an Explorien Laser on the back of Shredd...

I too bought one of these at the weekend. I wasn't that impressed, but my
daughter, in the target age range, liked it.

All of the elements in this set are unique to the RACERS theme

The 2x2 curved slope used on the front has turned up in 2 of the small
Studios sets (which I also picked up on Saturday (in the UK):

in yellow and read, minus any printing of course.
