This is tangentially related to both groups so I thought I'd crosspost.

I understand that the LEGO Studios set contains tips & tricks for making
models appear to fly without using string.  I've done some work on my
own in this regard (some of which can be seen on my website) but I'm
curious to know if there's an easier way.

Generally, I did the 'flying trick' by taking two photos, one with the
model and one without.  Using Fractal Design Paiter, I 'clone' the
background of the model-less picture over the support post or whatever
is holding the model up.  This takes a fair amount of work, and I can't
imagine doing it for every frame of a movie, so there's got to be an
easier way.  Anyone care to share experiences?

I have not tried using the tip yet but the only time I needed it was in my ninja movie (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.publish.photography)
