I use Textpad, which is a great little text editor that can also serve as a
simple compiler as well. Some of it's great features include color coding
the tags, and even pairing up stuff if you miss something.
I can't remember my beef with Dreamweaver, but it had something to do with
it's save features -- that and the fact that it wrote all upper case code, I
never bothered to figure out if this could be changed. I have messed with
GoLive and think it might prove useful to someone wanting to learn it. I
also like Homesite, and Topstyle -- basically the Allaire products.
For image editing nothing beats Photoshop, Imageready, and Illustrator, but
I prefer versions of Photoshop prior to 6 when they changed stuff around.
So far I don't see the need to learn the new stuff.
Debabelizer is my favorite batch image processor -- it used to achieve
better compression to quality ratios than did Adobe, but now it's a toss up.
Adobe has much improved in this area. I probably won't ever upgrade the
version of Debabelizer I am using now.
I like Flash and Swish. Flash has an impossible interface which buries all
kinds of stuff in the weirdest places. Still, I can't decide if we are a
Flash ready society yet. Some people are still stumbling along with
browsers that don't do a lot of stuff. WebTV doesn't support Flash last I
looked.
My forthcoming Castle Blacktron site will have a Flash intro with sound.
People will just have to deal.

| Just out of curiosity, please let me know what programs everyone uses to put together your Lego webpages. I personally use Dreamweaver for all my composing needs, but I am really curious what everyone else uses. Thanks in advance for any responses! (...) (23 years ago, 13-Nov-01, to lugnet.publish.html)
