kevin lochs site at http://www.kl.net/scans/ does not
have them because kevin has a silly rule about not accepting
nstructions for sets from 1996 or later.

You have to remember the copyright laws.

I don't think the copyright laws make age distinctions, do they?  (Except
perhaps for things published prior to 1976(?) and not explicitly marked with
a copyright notice.)

Kevin is doing the best anyone can do, I think. I think that people
could actually possibly get in trouble for by copying instructions of
sets not yet discontinued by TLG and then sending them, not to mention
putting them on a web site.

It's copyright infringement whether the item in question was originally
published in 1979, 1989, or 1999, right?  The practical issue really is
whether or not TLG has a problem with it and wants to seek an injunction.

The guidelines TLG has set forth in their "Fair Play" document do permit the
display of "limited extracts" of TLG publications on fan-created websites --
subject to certain restrictions -- but TLG has (curiously) left the
interpretation of "limited extracts" up to the world at large, not having
given a variety of examples of correct and incorrect usage.

But, unfortunately (re Suzanne's negative experiences), can
impart wisdom to us, for which we are always grateful.
Does that make sense? It is a compliment! :o)
