  Re: Digital Camera

(...) I don't think she called you annoying -- she said it can get annoying when something is excessively cross-posted. In fact, posting things to the right group is a basic point of netiquette. [Followup to .off-topic.debate, as the previous post (...) (25 years ago, 22-May-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: What color is this?

(...) Maybe I'll try it over the weekend. I may even do a bit of associated detective work to find the part which is available in the most different colors. I hopefully can get good pictures. I have a slave flash which I have made good use of with (...) (25 years ago, 22-May-00, to lugnet.scala, lugnet.publish, lugnet.faq)

  Re: Digital Camera

(...) Oh, it was just a sarcastic response. Re-read your post. I felt my toes were just a -little- bit stepped-on when you called my posts "annoying." Next time you suggest someone move to a different topic, just leave the part where you call them (...) (25 years ago, 22-May-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Digital Camera

(...) Hey, I wasn't trying to police or anything of the sort. I was just trying to be helpful, sorry you don't view it that way. I guess I shouldn't try to help and direct people to places where they might find help - excuse me. -Shiri (25 years ago, 22-May-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Digital Camera

Oh sure, because NOBODY in .space or .castle takes pictures of their MOCs, so I'm sure they would be totally uninterested in digital cameras. Actually posting here was -quite- helpful. I got an answer and have located a camera on eBay that will suit (...) (25 years ago, 22-May-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Digital Camera

Hi Mark, You'll probabloy have more luck posting this to lugnet.publish, which is where I set follow-ups to. Cross-posting to many groups can get slightly annoying when the posts are off-topic to the group - nothing personal! People who read (...)   Re: What color is this?

(...) I've done that at home with Todd. Our issue then was about violet vs purple. Put all the elements on one white plate. But there are many more now. I'd love to work with you if you would do this. I have official names for most colors. Over time (...) (25 years ago, 22-May-00, to lugnet.scala, lugnet.publish, lugnet.faq)

  Re: ???Question???

PS: if my tone seems annoyed or even antagonistic in the past few messages, it's not at anyone here -- it's at Microsoft. I try to avoid MS-bashing as much as I can, but this is blatently evil [1]. It's like the Kerberos thing, but arguably worse -- (...) (25 years ago, 20-May-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: ???Question???

(...) My understanding is that the ISO Latin 1 8-bit character set reserves those characters (among others) for control codes. I can't actually check, because the standard isn't available online (paper version costs about 56 CHF....). But this is (...) (25 years ago, 20-May-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.admin.general)

  Creating a video...

NALUG has been invited to have a booth this fall at the Edmonton Woodworking & Hobby Show. One of the things I would like to put together is a short (5 or 10 minutes) infomercial showcasing some of the amazing LEGO community on the web. What I (...)   Re: ???Question???

(...) Hmmmm. I agree that it's pretty horrendous for plaintext, but I think that so-called "smart quotes" are a pretty great thing for HTML (as long as the correct standard character entities are output, of course! :) when done properly.   Re: Gladiator (spoilers)

(...) I am using Netscape Communicator 4.5 on a Sparc and all I have to do is right click on the message and choose unscramble. I checked and on 4.61 it is also there. Hope this helps. Brian (25 years ago, 17-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.publish)

Re: Making magazines (was Re: This is incredible!)

(...) Thanks for the insight Suzanne! Perhaps we should look at it this way. Lower level LEGO employees are more hip about the LEGO community than mid-level management. Perhaps this is a wink to us from the LEGO rank and file that got past the (...) (25 years ago, 17-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

  Re: New domain?

(...) It's not allowed due to politeness, not due to any actual laws or precedent. However, it's a sad fact that there may soon be such laws / cases. I'd advise staying away from "lego" in domain names. (Not a lawyer, blah blah blah. I'll tell you (...) (25 years ago, 17-May-00, to lugnet.publish)

Re: Making magazines (was Re: This is incredible!)

(...) Y'know, this sounds most reasonable to me. Funny that only a few months ago it would have been cool that _anyone_ in Lego acknowledged the existence of LUGnet; now, having actual official recognition in the form of Mr. Justus, the exact same (...)   New domain?

From what I know a domain name with lego in it is not allowed, right? I am thinking of renaming my site "High Velocity Lego" and would like to get highvelocitylego.com. I did think about hvl.com and hvl.net and hvl.org and they are all taken! Gosh! (...) (25 years ago, 16-May-00, to lugnet.publish)
