Second, the substance: Bowsprits varied in length historically, as indeed did the geometries of the bows to which they were attached. In part they were meant to (...) | | | | (...) Your observations are accurate: bowsprits varied from ship to ship. If Lindsay can't give you a formula for a specific class of ship, I suspect one does not exist.
