Anyone know who wore green coats?

Hmm... Naval-wise, no clue. Maybe one of the Mediterranean Navies, or the
Spanish. On land, though, you could count on either British Riflemen (ie,
Sharpe's 95th, from any Cornwell fans) or French Dragoons.

The Dutch had a small presence in the Carribien during pirate days and thier
flag was mostly green.  However, I don't believe that they had a royal navy
down thier, and if they did, I wouldn't know what color uniform they had on.
But just for fun and if you wanna put it this way:

Green Coats: Dutch
Blue Coats: French
Red Coats: English
Armada Coats: Spanish

For another way of looking at it, you could use the coat color as a symbol
of rank/status. For instance:

Armada Coats: Treasure Fleet Gaurds
Blue Coats: Royal Navy
Red Coats: Royal Millitary (Ground Troops and Weak Navy)
Green Coats: Coast Guard, Millitia or Traders, You Choose!

(...) Thanks to my blatant lack of any blue officer torsos, I had to come up with a similar solution for my new project as I'm crewing it. I scanned a red officer, then a blue trooper, and recolored the red officer with the blue trooper's pigment. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.pirates)
