I'd like to see new pirate sets. Sure, it's cheaper to re-release, but Lego
creates dozens of new sets every year, and from what we've seen in recent
times they could do a lot worse than a revamp of (what seems) a popular theme.

I always thought the purpose of the small sets is that you buy trolley-loads
of 'em, and have hordes of pirate mateys and/or Imperials :)

It might be that the best way to see this happen is to build and publish a bunch of great MOCs from current (or currentish) parts and engineer (or hope) to get them released in the MOC line from LD. | (...) rereleasing old sets costs a lot less. They don't have to do any set design, they don't have to make instructions, and they don't have to do any playtesting. They did design a new box for these, but that is probably a very minor cost compared (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.pirates)
