Actually, it's my job(!), so it wasn't any big trouble. I'm happy
to add to that list and/or provide other pointers as the need
arises--it's before my period and on the other side of the Atlantic,
but in the context of global history the development of class systems
in the Atlantic world is a really hot topic right now. Pirates are a
vital, if not yet entirely understood, piece of that puzzle.
I'm going to do some article digging for myself this evening, so
I'll see if anything's been published in journals in the last few
years--that's usually where new theses and research get their first
tentative "baby step" airings. I don't know what uni you attend,
but most of the journals should be available near you provided I
give you complete citations.
