Vermont allows same-sex "civil unions" (essentially the same thing as marriage, with all the rights and priveledges thereof, but without the word "marriage" attached), but there was a recent news buzz going (...) (...) Technically, Massachusetts is the only one (I think) that expressly(ish) allows gay marriage. MA recently had a court case wherein the court decided that it was illegal to deny a gay couple the right to marry under the interpretation of (...) (20 years ago, 20-Sep-04, to lugnet.people.lgbt)
