Hi, everyone.
Well, I've been off the radar for a few years, finishing dissertation, teaching,
and now I'm moving to Eugene in August so I'll be part of the "Northwest" bunch
and not the "Northeast" so much. I guess this means I can go annoy Frank Filz
more, which I am sure he's happy about, and that I'll be able to go to BrickCon
more easily than BrickFest (BrickWorld, etc). In any case it'd be good to hear
from people in the Northwest in general and Oregon (or Eugene) in particular as
to what the community's like, who I should be in touch with, what kinds of
tomfoolery people get into, and where I can hide an eighteen-foot battleship.
Otherwise, life is spiffy.

Indeed. I’ve followed Jumpei’s work and I’ve seen the carrier, as well as the
new Queen Mary. Good stuff, all around. Ed diment’s marvelous HMS Hood
(http://www.brothers-brick.com/2008/10/12/hms-hood-is-finished/) is also super
inspirational. (But I maintain that you need interior detail to really
COUNT...haha)
The next major modern ship looks to be Fuso, which will be not too much longer
but significantly wider. I’ve had the parts, just need to tear down the old
beast first.

sight of your monster ship packed up in sections and squashed into the
back of your car at Brickfest ;-)

The ship is still in existence. Rubbermaid actually now makes a bin that’s
something like 55 gallons, which can actually hold sections. But yeah,
transportation sucked.

Aw, rats, I cannot remember our roller bearing discussion relative to your
crane. Are you out there in Pacifica somewhere? I think we’re hooked up via
