Hehe... the expedition was 52 kids plus scientists, teacher-chaperones,
expedition leaders, etc. The 4000 number is the *total* number of visitors
to Antarctica in a year.
I wrote to Brad J asking if Lego would be interested in sponsoring back in
the fall when we were trying to raise the CN$9000 or so required (that's
about $6000 US), suggesting that Liz might take some Arctic sets down and
take pics of them down in the snow, and Lego liked the idea - the whole
expedition thing fits very well with their ideas of creative, engaged,
constructive kids. It will be another week or so at least before the
journals and pics go up but she got some pretty nice photos, I think it will
be interesting. It will also be interesting to see what kinds of questions
she gets sent!
