Way to go Aaron!

Yes indeed way to go... to all!

Well it looks like I’m the first competitor back online (probably since I’m just crashing at my brother’s place in San Diego tonight) and I thought I’d post a few observations real quick--I’m sure there will be much more to follow (and for everyone at PDX, a cold adult beverage might buy you some of the more choice tidbits...).

Anyway, as a lot of you know, I had told Lego during the interview that I probably wouldn’t take the job if they offered it to me (since I’m pretty happy with launching things into outer space for a living). This allowed me to really kick back and enjoy the whole experience, while still saying “they better darn well pick a LUGNETter or someone’s getting hurt!”

So when they announced Aaron I was pumped (even though Brucey-wan should have gotten one of the other spots...). Megan and I talked for a while afterwards and she is so happy that it made me ridiculously happy! They immediately whisked the winners away for interviews and then stuffed them in a car for LA--they’ll be on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show tonight!

And that press release is a bit disengenious; they didn’t look at everything that was built this morning and say, “hey, these three models are far superior to everything else, we’re gonna hire them all!” They actually told us last night that they were picking two more people, since they are having some turnover in the model shop very soon (if you’re scoring at home, here’s a spot where a beer at PDX will get you more details). Also, today’s build-off only counted for a surprisingly small portion of the competition; two events last night (sphere building and some freeform building) and the interview were also a big part of the process.

Domestic or imported, just let me know? I will gladly buy you a beverage... See you at PDX man, I going to hold you to this!

Well, that’s all I have time for right now--just wanted to jot down a few things and also add my public congrats to the winners, but especially to Aaron! Sorry East Coast, he’s ours now!

Derek

Thanks for the post,

Robin W

PS Now you can get back to work on PDX stuff:) Got some panels to build...
