Thanks to everyone that showed up on Saturday, we had a great 10th anniversary
meeting! There were a number of good rope climbing robots! As well as some other
interesting robots that people brought.
For our next meeting, on February 27th, the mini-challenge is to build an
Obstacle Avoiding Target Seeker (OATS) robot. The robot will be placed, lined
up, and exactly 6 feet in front of a 4"x4" retroreflective target that will be
laid flat on the floor. The robot must drive to stop on the target. Sound
simple? Well it would be, except that there will be obstacles in the way, for
instance, 2x4s, or boxes. No "loose" or smooth-hill-like obstacles that will
cause odemetry or tracking to fail, but otherwise you won't know what or where
the obstacles are ahead of time, or how large or complex they'll be. There,
that's more of a challenge! (For those, like Gus, who need even more of a
challenge, some of the obsacles might not be convex.)
At the meeting we also voted for a mini-challege for the next meeting: stair
climbing. So if you want more time to build a robot, here's your chance. Build a
robot that can climb normal sized stairs. There are some in the Plato auditorium
(in groups of two), but there is also a nice flight of them just after the front
doors to DigiPen. Bonus points for anyone that can build a robot that will find
its way from the parking lot to the Plato auditorium on its own!

| (...) Just a quick reminder about tomorrow's meeting stating at 2pm at DigiPen! If you have a mini-challenge robot (rope climbing) don't forget to bring it. Even if it doesn't work perfectly, I'd still encourage you to bring it: we can learn from (...) (15 years ago, 29-Jan-10, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
