The next SMART meeting is only a month away, on May 19. We will be back at our
usual location in DigiPen for this meeting.

There are two mini-challenges you can build robots for. Pick one, or build a
robot for both!

First: Build a robot that plays a game. Any type of game. A single player game,
two player game, or multiplayer game. It can play it alone, with another robot,
or against a person. Let your imagination run wild!

Second: Build a robot to solve all or part of a micromouse maze. This is a
standard international robot competition. There are way too many requirements in
an "official" micromaze competition. For this mini-challenge, just be aware that
the wall sections are white and about 6 1/2 inches long, and posts 1/2 inch
wide. The posts define a grid and the wall pieces are slid between them. Walls
are just under 2" high. You can tackle as much of the navigation challenge as
you wish. Building a small enough LEGO robot that is just capable of traveling
between two walls, and turning at an intersection will already be fairly
difficult. Add wall detection by either physical contact or non-contact will add
more complexity. Actually solving a maze most complex of all. (The starting
point is a corner, the goal is the center of the maze.) Do whatever part you
feel comfortable with.

Looking forward to see what people come up with!

It's time to think of a game for your robot to play -- the next SMART meeting is only 10 days away! What kinds of game would you like to have your robot play? Something physical (baseball?), something with props (cards?), something purely (...) (18 years ago, 9-May-07, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
