The next SMART meeting is going to be November 19th, at Digipen. Our
mini-challenge will be Crevice Crossing, but as always you are welcome to bring
any robot you've built.
Crevice Crossing:
Build a robot that can cross a gap between two tables. Initially your robot
should be able to fit in a one-foot cube. See how big a gap you can cross. Try
not to leave anything behind. For extra bonus, cross back to the starting table
after reaching the far side.
As with all mini-challenges, the goal is to challenge yourself as much as you
can. The point behind this challenge is to see how big a gap YOU can cross! If
you are able to build a vehicle that can drive over a four inch gap, then do
that. See if you can get it to return safely after crossing over once. For a
more difficult challenge, attempt a gap that is on the order of one foot! Or
even more difficult, try for a two-foot gap! Perhaps you could try to think of a
way to cross a distance even larger than that?

| (...) Just a little under two weeks to try to cross the largest gap you can with a robot. If some of you haven't attempted a mini-challenge before, the main objective is to learn. Tackle as much of the task as you feel you are able to; you don't (...) (19 years ago, 8-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
