New MOC, Kalamazoo County Courthouse —David Kohrman
I unveiled my newest MOC at last weekend's MichTLC GATS layout, the Kalamazoo County Courthouse. It is based on a now demolished 1880s building that once stood on Bronson Park in downtown Kzoo. My main Brickshelf gallery isn't moderated just yet but (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.us.michlug, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.town) !!

(...) look forward to a chance to see this in person. Bronson park in the 1920's would be pretty interesting. Heck maybe the whole club could do a 20's era layout or section of a layout. It would be fun. -Jason +---...---+ Jason Spears MichLUG - (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.town)

(...) Hi David, Very nice! Lots of detail! I really like using plates for roofs & like how you've done it in some areas. The cornice work is very attractive too! Something to be proud of. Congrats! Best, Jonathan (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.town)

David, That's beautiful! You really capture the look of the original building. I have a question for you or anyone else who's built buildings on this scale--what do you put on the inside? The roof seems like it would be pretty sturdy, but do you (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC, Kalamazoo County Courthouse —David Kohrman
(...) The interior for this building is hollow (no floors or interior walls) but there is a fairly large internal structure that supports the roof and towers. Its a set of 5 16x16 columns made of blue 2x2s and 2x4s in a lattice type pattern. About (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.town)

(...) it justice! We're lucky as a club to be graced with so many great town builders, who egg each other on quite nicely, and this building raised the internal bar for the club a "bit", yes, yes, yes it did. (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC, Kalamazoo County Courthouse —Jonathan Lopes
(...) I really enjoy looking at the pic's of the train shows and pic's of buildings like this when they are posted. Even from afar (ie: not in person), I can see the growth in the individual builders. I'm sure all these things look spectacular in (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC, Kalamazoo County Courthouse —Stefan Garcia
Saw this at the show, very nice! Seeing the photo of the original, I now realize how spot-on it is. The detailing is really great. -Stefan--"still sorting though his TRU raiding prizes"-G. (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC, Kalamazoo County Courthouse —Nate Jacobs
The building looks great. I really like the use of the Grey figure from Harry Potter on the top of the tower. The overall detail is fantastic. You have really caught the look of the building and brought it to life. Great Job!! Can't wait to see what (...) (22 years ago, 1-Feb-03, to lugnet.town)
