Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

Personally, I have about as much interest in building a lifelike train as Larry has in building a sumo robot. But that doesn't stop me from trying to attend any type of LEGO meeting (LUG, LTC, MUG, LRG, Brickfest...) I've made a couple trips to (...)   Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) We could go back and forth all day with this discussion, but the bottom line is that your group is very different from my group. An event of some sort that brought the 2 groups together would be interesting and might be fun. I'll leave it (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa, lugnet.org.us.michlug, FTX)

Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) Okay, well that is good to know. This exchange coupled with the previous one that happened on our forum made me think that was the intent. Sorry if I mis-read you. (...) I think that the 2 groups use their meetings for very different things. (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa, lugnet.org.us.michlug, FTX)

MichLUG presented 2 Build Workshops at the Curious Kids Museum

MichLUG members were pleased to present two Build Workshops at the Curious Kids Museum in St. Joseph, MI on Saturday, March 17th. The kids seemed to have a lot of fun and we may find ourselves doing more of these in the future. (2 URLs) Event (...)   Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) No one is trying to glom LRGOAA under the umbrella of MichLUG. LRGOAA is it's own entity, doing it's own thing. I was just trying to arrange a meeting. (...) Maybe I phrased something wrong in another email. MichLUG is likely to have a May (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa, lugnet.org.us.michlug, FTX)

Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

I think I may still not have made myself completely clear. In my view as an ex officer of the club, one of the principal bylaws authors, and as a general student of community, the club as a whole has no desire to see LRGOAA become a SIG within (...)   Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) <SNIP> (...) While I do realize that the current definition of robotics (especially in the automotive capitol of the world) includes many things that are not commonly thought of as "robots", I also have to say that automating a train layout (...)   Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) "could be", and *have been*, since way back when, actually. 2001 I think. We've (well, our resident robotics wizard, Steve Ringe has) been using RCX's and other Technic gadgetry for doing things like turntable automation (press a button on the (...)   Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) MichLUG was formed in October of 2000. A bunch of us got together in DeWitt Michigan, showed off some creations, talked about S@H, buying parts online, searching for various deals at stores, etc. Creations were pretty varied in theme, there (...)   Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) MichLUG has members interested in almost every theme LEGO has ever released. We have a diverse group of people, all of whom bring something different to the club. Steve Ringe has some done super neat things with Mindstorms in the past (ex: (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa, lugnet.org.us.michlug, FTX)

Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) I'm not sure there'd be enough room to have fully functional robots actually wandering around on an actual theme layout (especially ones with moving trains that could get derailed), but I can think of two options that could work. Robotics (...) (22 years ago, 27-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa, lugnet.org.us.michlug, FTX)

Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) Another good reason, I agree. (...) I think the lack of theme crossover is another big reason we haven't gotten together in the past. Looking forward, I can imagine a "show" which has some of our robots wandering around one of your layouts, or (...) (22 years ago, 27-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa, lugnet.org.us.michlug, FTX)

Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) The fact that there are at least 1/3rd of our members who don't live in the greater Detroit area probably doesn't help a lot with that. (...) Not at all.   Re: LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

(...) Hi, hi. (...) We are actually LEGO Robotics centric, not LEGO in general. (...) It is odd we haven't met, although I would have to say that this is due to many factors.   LRGOAA & MichLUG Joint Meeting?

Howdy all LRGOAA & MichLUG members, Seeing as how LRGOAA is a LEGO centric club in Michigan and MichLUG is a LEGO centric club in Michigan, it seemed odd (to me) that we have never met. I'd be keen to try and organize a joint meeting. I ran this by (...) (22 years ago, 26-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa, lugnet.org.us.michlug, FTX)
