Last April Lugola had a huge meeting, largely due to the anticipated
Legoland wedding, and it was then that we discussed the possibility of a
brickfest type gathering here on the west coast. I understand our friends
in Seattle were also discussing the same thing. We saw how realistically we
could attract a large group from various locations, and attract curious
visitors. Legoland was a great added attraction for many who attended, with
several attendees traveling to and from the park during the course of the
meeting. When we discussed this here are a couple of things we absolutely
did not want.
1. To in any way set up a competing activity to diminish any events already
taking place.
2. To begin a Lug competition especially with west coast lugs competing for
membership numbers or club longevity.
3. To be sued for use of a trademarked or service marked name.
4. To in any way make any one feel offended or alienated in any way.
What we really wanted is to have a chance to meet the great builders who we
admire online, and exchange ideas. Realistically very few of us west
coasters are going to make the cross-country journey to the official Wamalug
brickfest, no matter how spectacular it may be. We are holding a meeting on
August 4th, there we can better discuss the reality of this type of meeting,
then we should probably sit down with our friends from Seattle and see if
this is even in the realm of possibility, let us at least seriously consider
the matter before you shoot it full of holes. Ideally if this does happen I
would hope we would receive the blessings of the community and not scorn or
resentment. Cant we all just get along?
