I hope to keep [Full contact] working for a while.

Steve, that (and the BFB) were some of the highlights of this for me.
Wonderful design, I just wish I could have looked at it more (or played it -
what a wonderful crowd).

It is always nice to go head-to-head with other designs, it opens your
eyes up to your flaws immediately.

And solutions... Jona, I really liked (loved!) how you started your sumo-bot,
and the additional information you were able to pass on that way. Steve, I could
not figure out how Road Hog was managing that outragous speed *and* torque,
until I looked under the hood and saw what motors you were using. Wonderful!
Other highlights were Speed Bump (just a wonderfully sleek-looking design), the
general sumo-competition (note to self - remember where the opponent starts out!
Surprisingly, although I remember catching this point in Sumo 5, I completely
forgot to code for it in the NEIRG event to allow quick blind attacks, which is
nearly how Jona took out Hexamoo). And seeing the variation on six-motor-drive
(with friction-peg tensioner) that Jona came up with, the many variations on
maze-bots, line-followers, etc., etc...
Another thing that surprised me - there were almost no non-LEGO 'bots in the
line-following or maz events, which was slightly dissappointing.
Jona, can you provide me with a contact for Kirby? I talked to him about how
to use a Mac laptop & NQC to program a Spybot (something I didn't even know was
possible), and I need to get so details from him on the hardware required (I
foolishly forgot to get the details there, and then had to high-tail it out of
there near the end).
As to weaknesses... drat, I *still* have to make Trellis (the line-follower)
faster, and I should have done much better on the maze (and even then, my
maze-bot should have donated at least half the third-place for the maze event to
Steve - honestly, I started out with something very different, but it seems I
keep ending up with the fine-tuned version of the hardware looking... well, just
like Steve's.).
As to sumo, let's just say I still need a lot of work. Sigh. But fun fun
fun...

(...) I did have 2 sumo bots; 1 for each class. Little D was physically the same as it was for our Sumo-bot 5 event (its program was new). Widget was completely new. Both robots were having problems detecting the line multiple times (i.e. they would (...) (21 years ago, 2-Mar-04, to lugnet.org.us.lrgoaa)
