Thanks, Bryan. I've got both these pics already saved, along with
many others.

Exactly the problem. Either the piston binds (or snaps off somehow),
or the connection to the drive wheel doesn't quite work. I haven't
seen or come up with a rock-solid reliable method as of yet (a "pure"
lego one that is).
