I've visited many train shows over the years--some permanent layouts in people's
homes/garages and some weekend shows like NMRA.
The permanent layouts usually do something like a U or an E type setup--going
right to the walls and such on 3 sides of the room.
The 'portable' shows seem to always do a rectangle/square combination. I am in
favour of the rectangle/square for it gives us a 'safe' place to sit.
If we do a fully enclosed layout, it means that we're sitting on the
outside--either within the perimeter of the stanctions, obstructing the view of
the layout for the crowds, or in the walkway. Neither of which I'm necessarily
liking.
But I'll go 'with the crowd' on this one.
I'm not 'all detail'--I'll do my best but I notice that the details that Calum
and Derek bring in are phenominal, but I don't seem to have that talent.
I am trying to improve, however.
Beyond that, note to Calum--never stop making suggestions. Have no worries
about that. We may joke about 'that guy only bringing two modules' but it's in
jest--your opinion is always appreciated.
The 'figure 8' layout of train6k doesn't necessarily require two separate loops
crossing one another--one track could be elevated--therefore at no time could
there be a potential collision.
Just a thought.
