Bruce..... lets try this this one time. if we find it changes the dynamic of
the games/group they we have learned a lesson.
I don't need to remind you that library fee's jumped 6 fold. we used to get
the place for the DAY for a small $50 fee. we had the run of the place and
could do what we wanted...
as of March, the fee's will be bring more in line with the rest of the new
amalgamated city and will rise to $50 per hour! and we are in the space from
9 am to 5 pm. that $400. Calum and i are ok with subsidizing the group the
$50 per day BUT $400 is a whole different game.
for those who need to be kept in the loop, several games ago rtlToronto was
approached by staff at the library and they made us an offer. if we would
allow them to publicize our event as a "march break" event with the kids they
would let us stay for free. at no time had they ever placed any conditions,
or rules, or even a request other than just the advertising. Calum and I
agreed. you might also remember that at several dinners Calum and i brought
this up to the group and the consensus was we would be willing to TRY this....
if it works and dose not cramp our style, then we'll consider it again. if we
find that it becomes dumb; then we will have to find a new home. (with all the
usual ammenities...close to public transit, parking, cheap ect ect )
SO, lets all calmly do what we always do for this game. we will show up and
we will play and we will have fun. I have NOT ONCE got any pressure from the
library asking us to do anything different. anything you have read in these
last few posts are things Calum and I feel we should do in an attempt to be
"fair" to the library. that's it. they are giving us the space for free. in
return we have to (at least) pretend that we can have an event that the kids
might like.
if steve has software that better keeps score... GREAT
if calum feels we should better be ready to go every match.... we'll !!T R Y!!
The Library is not dumb. they are not going to PACK the room with more kids
than it can legally hold.... I've already made a request for stanchions to
keep kids at bay.
Bruce if you do what you ALWAYS do, you will be just fine. Arrive early to
ensure you get some table space... as always we can not guarantee security of
your stuff. bring locks for your stuff.... try to keep your stuff to a small
space, space might be at a premium.
have fun!
Chris

I always figured that Calum was more the diplomat... ;) Anyway, I'm going to start a 'bot tonight, and see how far I get. If it's completely technicolour, it's because (...) | (...) I have a couple things to say, here. First of all, I'd suggest the main goal of this whole thing is for everyone to have fun. Right? And fun is catchy. It seems to me if we're having fun, the audience will have fun. And they also add to the (...) (22 years ago, 12-Mar-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
