Load bearing tyres on a horizontal axis provide the support and motive
traction; wheels pressing laterally against guide rails provide steering and
also supply the power to the train.

From what I understand the paris subway has several different styles of (...) (22 years ago, 11-Nov-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)
