Sorry, I got sidetracked on a "rant against Chris" theme.

I know, it's relatively easy, isn't it? :)

I didn't take any photos, but would you want me to record my video on
CD for the next meeting? It will probably be raw since Ulead Video
Studio doesn't like me much* but if you do want it, is there any
particular format (MPEG, AVI, etc.) that you would want it in?

Actually, if I could borrow the DV tape at some point, I can just cap it
directly in.  I could also take Microsoft DV AVI on CDRom too.

* As an aside, is there reasonable "maximum" file size under WinME?
UVS keeps crashing at or about the 14 min mark claiming that there was
either a transmission error or I've exceeded the operating systems
file size limit. This happens at more-or-less the same point
regardless of which tape I use so I'm of the opinion that it's ether
the program or the OS, but I don't know which.

Yes.  There are several limits:

Windows 95/98/ME have a 2GB file size limit under FAT16, and a 4GB file size
limit under FAT32. NT core OSes on NTFS drives (ie, NT4, 2000, XP) do not
have an effective limit (its in the multiterabyte range)

AVI files ALSO have a file size limit, which is 2GB in early versions of the
Video For Windows architecture.  This has been resolved in newer versions of
the Windows media routines, and newer programs can write larger than 2GB files.

There are various methods around this.  For the end user, you can capture
clips smaller than 2GB.  Also, certain editing packages either have routines
to string multiple 2GB files for capturing and playback (ie,
Premiere4.2+hardware vendor supplied extensions) or newer code which
supports greater than 2GB files (ie, Premiere 6.0)

(...) Hmmm. I suppose you could borrow the tape, but the recordings prior to the RTL stuff include me at the beach and nobody should have to endure that... I'll try making a CDRom first. Matthias Jetleb (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Sorry, I got sidetracked on a "rant against Chris" theme. What I was actually going to do, aside from praising the winners and thanking the organizers was to respend to the request for photos.
