just posting that I saw some different stuff as I walked into my now favorite
Canadian Retail place to buy stuff...

1. The staff were kind enough to disclose to me that they were putting a lot
of their lego on sale, a bunch of the older stuff, so they can make room...
not that they have much room ... for the newer stuff, probably the Summer
Line-up, or some additional spring stuff.

2. HP Hogwarts Castle was below $100 CDN.  That is good because the same
set in Lego Shop@Home is $90US retail, and (was) going as much as $130.
This could spell the end of "potter-mania" :)  or at least until the
next round of sets come out for the next movie (Chamber of Secrets).

3.  They had a limited amount of Championship Challenge (I), set #3409,
left.  Still at clearance price of 24.99 (CDN).  This is absolutely a steal,
if I may say so again.  I already have 1, and I bought 2 (total this week),
just in case I need some elements.

Ohhhh....but there is an interesting story... :) ...that went into this
purchase.  I went into the store expecting the first thing I'd see was some
Championship Challenge sets.... to my heart's dismay, I couldn't find them.
So I walked up the (Lego) aisle, seeing what I could find instead.  I
finally found a trove of them hiding on the top shelf.  Somebody obviously
doesn't want these sold at this price, or something like that... :)
well my next thing is to price check, just in case they didn't try to pull
a fast one....so I bring it to the scanner, and it comes up empty.

I look for the stock girl, which is something I shy away from usually.  She
tries to scan it at her terminal, and it comes up empty, so she manually types
in the UPC code, and voila....still 24.95.  So I grab it, and a Bank
Explosion Studio Set, marked down to $30 CDN, and go to the check-out, pay
for the items, and then leave....  (saving myself approx. 60 CDN off the
"regular retail prices).  Boy, I just love shopping for Lego in Canada
(sometimes)... :)

(...) (URL) $100.00? by how much? I believe I paid $98.99 for mine. (This was durin’ the pre-Christmas madness, and I thought the deal was really killer then!) (URL)Bank Explosion Studio Set, marked down to $30 CDN, A good set, but still a bit much (...) (23 years ago, 15-Mar-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
