Why wouldn't you be able to pressurize your air system before the event?
I see nothing wrong with that.
If you have a motorized pump for keeping the system pressurized, just leave
it on before the start. I know that in my last 2 'bot competitions, I had
motors constantly running, for conveyor belts and such.
