It's not the collection, it's the effort!  Most of the best entrants into
the rtlToronto events often are people with very small amounts of Lego.
It's the R&D process of designing, prototyping, building, testing and
repeating it all over that builds the best designs, not what pieces or sets
one has.  (In fact, it seems successful robots are ones that are tested,
tested and tested again) It might even be that having less often means you
do better because you're forced into maximizing the optimal use of what you
do have.

Well said Calum! I wholeheartedly agree! I think this is the smartest thing
anyone has ever said pertaining to robotics design. I learned this the hard
way over the past year. Sure, it sometimes helps to have a zillion parts to
choose from, but usually limited resources force more creativity. Of all the
'fancy pieces I have aquired in the last while, like flex axles, pneumatics,
cables, clutch gears, etc I almost never use them. Necessity is the mother
of invention. If you read my 'story' on my sites home page, you can laugh
about my attempts to make a regular hobby motor a Lego compliant motor. Just
because I wanted to motorize my lego so bad. Anyway, thanks for a good post!
