Well, I found one in Zellers.  They're $49.  And Chris, it is IR, you're
right.  The copy on the back of the box says it's infrared.  though I'm not
sure how you'd get line of sight into the little box like thing.  The motor
system in the set looks like a 4.5V or 9V car motor, the kind with four
wheels on the sides etc.  I believe the tires can be attached on, but the
wheels look fixed.  Anyone want to take the gamble on it for $49?

I also found the Slave1/DesertSkiff combo pack for $19.  I instead bought a
5533 Model Team dragster for $39.
