but I don't know how well I am at wording it. It stems from my own desire to
drive trains (metro).

1) If I'm a designer, I'd much rather be designing and programming automated
railways.

2) If I'm a driver/operator, I'd much rather be at the helm of a
manually-driven train with virtually no safety interlocks.

I'm siting somewhere around 1.5 right now, working in automation but also
wanting to drive. So I dunno. If person's module cluster was isolated from

There exists a mode for TMWDCC called "Route" mode which throws switches in
sequence at certain times, to which you have to drive towards them.  It's
slightly automated, yet mostly driving oriented.

Maybe we need to see what kind of fun can be had with a multiuser control
system at the show first.  Model train clubs often will do timetable
operation, like a simulated rail system, where they exchange little cards
shunting loads and driving to and fro.  I suspect there'll be enough
MetroStations and other train stations/platforms in the layout to drive a
passenger service, and then maybe a cargo service.

the next, and each one had it's own speed reg, we could tweak operations

I'm aiming to have two throttles and two decoders at train2.  If all goes on
track, we might have a full DCC layout and swap decoders/motors back and
forth... ?

(Please don't take this as an "I think this is how it should be done" type
post - I'm meerly a follower!)

Well, seeing as you have the most experience w/automation, you may very well
be the leader on this one :)
