A quick scan of some other groups has shown a new set that might be fun
for a different kind of lego battle.

set 8539 is one of those (dumb) BIONICLE(?) sets.

BUT,  it has 2 IR remote transmitter/receiver pairs.

from what I can gather from other posts, you get a ir transmitter that
has 3 channels, and an IR receiver that can be set to one of those 3
channels.   the receiver has 2 built in motors, and with your
controller  you can run each motor forward or backward.    and each set
comes with a pair of each. so with one set you and a friend can make
two  skid steer robots (that's for Bruce) and have a mini game of
battlebots.

John Barnes (of the UK) has a set that he already took apart, and has
discovered much about it.  he is currently trying to find a way for an
RCX to control the motor receivers.

my question to the group.  if you happen to see SET 8539 in a store,
please let me know.

hear are links to some of the WWW stuff.
