You could even add station stops that would open and close the doors
(from the outside station platform)!

This is fantastic!  Back in the 70's, the French Aerotrain (air suspension high
speed experimental train) reached speeds of something like 380 km/h.  For a year
or two in the middle of that project, they also experimented with a low-speed
system called TRIDIM.  Information is really sketchy on it but it seems to use
about 6 or 8 pneumatic suspension "pads", and a horizontal gear rack beamway for
propulsion, just like the LEGO monorail!

Someone's come up with an adorable LEGO model of it; something like this would
look fantastic in your layouts!
