This is fantastic!  Back in the 70's, the French Aerotrain (air suspension high
speed experimental train) reached speeds of something like 380 km/h.  For a year
or two in the middle of that project, they also experimented with a low-speed
system called TRIDIM.  Information is really sketchy on it but it seems to use
about 6 or 8 pneumatic suspension "pads", and a horizontal gear rack beamway for
propulsion, just like the LEGO monorail!

Someone's come up with an adorable LEGO model of it; something like this would
look fantastic in your layouts!

You could even add station stops that would open and close the doors (from the outside station platform)! -Rob A> (...) (16 years ago, 17-Jan-09, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
