Yup, that’s what most of us have to do.
If you want a gray base plate in a specific shape or angle the only
possibility is to trim the plate to the desired shape…

I just bought 12 36x36 green base plates on friday, They dont sell them in
grey, but I did recall seeing a 16 x 32 baseplate in a set....
